Meet the very first release in Tomica's brand-new REBORN toyline: the Mazda Familia 1500XG. Launched to mark Tomica's 55th anniversary, the REBORN series takes beloved Classic Tomica castings and rebuilds them from the ground up with modern tooling and paintwork — bringing old favourites back to shelves in a way that's faithful to the original, but sharper in every detail.
This model is based on the original casting of the No. 4 Mazda Familia 1500XG, a Classic Tomica release from the early 1980s. Rather than reusing the old tooling, Tomica built an entirely new mould for this REBORN edition — which is why you'll find "2025" stamped on the chassis, marking the year the new casting was created. It's a 1/59 scale model with genuine play value: the suspension works, and both doors open.
REBORN releases have their own quiet collectability quirks worth knowing. Unlike Tomica Premium or Tomica Exclusives, REBORN models aren't numbered, and they're released on a bimonthly schedule rather than a regular monthly drop. The packaging also stands apart — instead of an illustrated artwork scan like the Exclusives line, REBORN boxes feature an actual photo of the toy inside.
